You’ve probably seen some really nice-looking themes available for your Samsung Galaxy device, but you hesitate to download them because the icons aren’t all that great and even somewhat ugly. But they usually come with the entire package. Until now. The Galaxy Note 7 is the first Samsung device that gives support to third-party icon packs that you can also find on the store. This allows further customization for the recently launched phablet, which a lot of Samsung users have been looking for.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, which came out in 2015, were the first devices that Samsung allowed to support third-party themes. This also led the way for these themes to actually have live wallpapers. And now, the Galaxy Note 7 has three sections in the themes settings: wallpapers, themes, icons. This means you will be able to mix and match all three, according to your preferences and according to the availability of the things you like.

The Galaxy Note 7 is the first of the Samsung smartphones to support the third-party icons out of the box, although the Grace UX for the Galaxy Note 5 from last year did have icon packs as well. Now owners of the previous flagships like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, and even the current one, the Galaxy S7 are probably hoping that this will eventually roll out to them, as well as the revamped UI.

The newly-announced phablet is already available for pre-order in various stores and through carriers as well. Some are offering freebies when you pre-order, like the Gear Fit 2 or a 256GB microSD card. Pricing varies per carrier, but it’s between $849.99 – $879.99. Shipping is expected to start later this month.

  1. My note 3 has darkwolf rom, so marshmallow, s7 edge features, IR blaster, put a zerolemon 4000 mah battery and waterproof case. And it’s rooted and a split screen on all apps. Without bloat..battery lasts 2 days.
