We’re just a few hours away from the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, although we already feel like we know almost everything about it given the rumors and leaks of the past few weeks. Another last minute news is that several US carriers, specifically T-Mobile for now and maybe Verizon and AT&T as well, will be giving a Gear Fit 2 for those who will be pre-ordering the upcoming phablet. This is supposedly just one option for some goodies that you can get as bonus when you buy the Galaxy Note 7.
The Gear Fit 2 is the newest version of Samsung’s fitness-focused armband, introduced just last month. The main new thing that this wearable has to offer is that it has its own internal GPS sensor so it can work with or without a connected smartphone. It also has a wider 1.5-inch AMOLED display and an internal storage of 4GB. It really is more of a fitness band than a smartwatch and notification device, so it will appeal more to those who have a lot of fitness activities that need to be tracked.
According to sources, T-Mobile will be offering the Gear Fit 2 as a freebie for those who will be pre-ordering the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the flagship phablet that will be announced on August 2. But while they did not name other carriers, it is probably a safe bet that Verizon and AT&T will also be offering the same deal for their customers.
The Galaxy Note 7 will be announced tomorrow but will go on sale later this month, most likely by August 19. This means that carriers will also probably start pre-selling the phablet when it’s announced, so having the Gear Fit 2 as part of the deal may appeal to some, depending on the phone’s actual price of course.
