Are you counting the days until August 2 when Samsung will finally unveil the latest in its Galaxy Note series. And while we’re almost pretty sure it will be the Galaxy Note 7 instead of the Note 6, there is little that we know for sure about the newest phablet in the box. But now that Samsung has released their first teaser for the upcoming device, we probably can almost confirm some of the rumors that have been running around. And unfortunately, there are no official hints yet of it coming with an iris scanner.
Not that the rumored added authentication method using your iris will still not be part of the Galaxy Note 7. It’s just that we didn’t see any hint in the 30 seconder teaser released in South Korea. What we did see seemed to sort of support some things that we’ve been hearing about the Galaxy Note 7. The first few seconds of the video showed various fingerprint actions, which means there will definitely be something new about the fingerprint scanning technology, maybe even unlocking on the screen itself instead of the button.
We may also see a much improved selfie camera, including improvements for low-lighting conditions when using the front-facing camera to take dramatic shots or something. The highlighting words sequence may also indicate that we’ll see something new for the S Pen, which is probably the main selling point of the Galaxy Note series. Phones floating underwater is a bit too obvious, but we’ll still say it: waterproof smartphone.
We don’t actually know what that “blindhaed” sequence actually means, but the numbers towards the end, from zero to 5 and then a question mark right after may be a clear sign that we’ll be meeting the Galaxy Note 7 instead of the sequential 6, to match the current flagship number. So the August 2 press conference will be D-Day for the new phablet.
