Gone are the days when you would need an actual flatbed scanner (or even a portable one) to help you digitize documents and papers. Your smartphone or tablet can actually serve as your scanning device already, and we don’t mean just taking a picture with your camera. There are apps out there that can do a much better job than your camera, and one of the more popular ones called FineScanner is finally available for your Android devices.
The app, developed by ABBYY, has always been on the list of best mobile document scanning app, but it has always been for iOS devices previously. Now those who are on Android will be able to enjoy all the features that make this a must have app for those who need a mobile scanner often to digitize things like documents, agreements, receipts, magazine articles, notes, recipes, pictures, charts, tables, slides, books, whiteboards, and yes, even billboards in case you need it. It can save it in JPEG or PDF.
It also has the ability to create, edit, and enhance separate images or multi-page documents so you won’t have any problems collating or putting them together in one document. Your scans can be saved within the app and including tags and search capabilities. But you can also share and export the scanned document or image to your cloud service of choice, including Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Evernote, etc.
If you subscribe to their Premium Account, you will have the image-to-text recognition (OCR) and it’s available in 193 languages. You can also choose from 12 output formats aside from JPEG and PDF, including docx, txt, preserving the formatting of the source. You can download FineScanner from the Google Play Store for free.
