It really is strange that a hugely popular game that was “birthed” in a certain country wouldn’t launch there first or at least be one of the first countries where it rolls out. But for one reason or another, the Pokemon Go juggernaut has not been available in the birthplace of Pokemon in Japan. But Niantic and Nintendo are finally making up for that by supposedly releasing the game today in Japan, to the delight of the probably millions of monster-crazy fans.
According to “reliable sources” Japan will be the newest country added to the 30 or so where Pokemon Go is available and wreaking some sort of havoc in the lives of players (and the establishments where they run after those elusive monsters). It has revolutionized how augmented reality games are played and raised, nay, doubled the value of Nintendo’s business, all without a full global rollout just yet.
Aside from rolling out in its home country, the Japan launch will also feature the first company it will officially tie up with. Yep, McDonalds in Japan will probably see a huge boost in visitors since they will now be “gyms” for all the Pokemon collectors. And this will also probably be replicated elsewhere, as Niantic and Nintendo intend to augment their revenue with partnerships like these.
Niantic has said that the reason why they bypassed Japan is because they wanted their servers to be fully ready to take on what will probably be a huge demand in the country when it finally launches. It’s also the first country in Asia where it will be officially available, and when it does roll out in the region, where there a lot of wanna-be Pokemon collectors, you can expect this phenomenon to grow even more.
