Nextbit has built its street cred on the back of its Nextbit Robin smartphone, a device that leverages thoroughly on cloud storage to make sure you won’t lack space on your device for daily usage. Yesterday, Nextbit was on Facebook Live and Periscope announcing a new Web Client that allows Robin users to pore through their photos uploaded to the cloud with ease. Also, there may be a Red Robin coming up.

The Nextbit Robin works on a pretty interesting premise – purchase of the phone gives you a pretty big cloud storage account. And depending on your usage of certain apps and files on your smartphone, the operating system (built on Android, of course) automatically uploads the ones you don’t use regularly to clear up space on your phone. But cloud storage for your photos actually has one Achilles’ heel, it’s the ease (or difficulty) for users to browse through their uploaded photos and quickly locate the ones they need.

Nextbit is putting into beta a Web Client that allows Robin users to zoom in to images, get meta data info, select multiple pictures and download them to your computer, or share them to social media. Nextbit is harping on the clean and simple interface of the Web Client, and more features are being built in with more development and the beta testing going on. You need to own a Robin and sign up for the beta program if you want to use the Web Client now.

Also, Nextbit teased via Twitter that a new variant of the Robin – this one red in color – might just be in the works. You remember that the Robin can be had in a cool bluish green tint or a black unit with blue-green accents. The red color is much more aggressive, but it can be a really cool attraction for new users.
