Nintendo isn’t only busy with the Pokemon GO that’s been taking the mobile gaming industry by storm. We know it’s busy making new games that are hopefully free to download when they launch. Recently, it caught our attention with the release of the Miitomo and now we’ve heard of information that there are plans for smart peripherals. No, we’re not thinking of a new smartphone but rather accessories or smart devices that will make mobile gaming better and more fun.
The company is said to be working on a controller that as per a Nintendo executive, will be used mainly for mobile gaming. We’re guessing something like the Wii but then again that’s old technology already. This smart device could be anything that is “smart”. It can either be a new hardware or software–we’re not really sure.
This idea makes sense since mobile gaming is a large industry and Nintendo is known to be one of the pioneers in gaming. The Japanese company needs to innovate and keep up with the trends if it wants to keep its loyal fans and consumers.
Nintendo has major plans to focus on smart device development, including possibly designing its own controller for mobile gaming, according to general manager of entertainment planning and development, Shinya Takahashi.
Takahashi shared:
“Physical controllers for smart device applications are available in the market and it is possible that we may also develop something new by ourselves. I believe Nintendo’s way of thinking is to look at whether action games are really not impossible (without a physical controller for smart device applications) to create and how we can make it happen to create such a game.”
Nintendo has always been open to making new apps. The company has plans to expand some more so it started on exploring the possibilities. While waiting for the bigger challenge, it continues to work by developing more apps. We’re told there will be four more games to be released but I guess we’ll just have to wait for the official announcement.
