If you’re a fan of Bang & Olufsen and their audio accessories and if you’re thinking of switching to wireless earphones, then you might want to check out the newest addition to their product line, the Beoplay H5 earphones. Branding it as “sports and hands-free focused wireless earbuds”, the splash and dust resistant accessory allows you more flexibility when you’re listening to your music or taking and receiving calls. Hopefully, the companion app will also arrive on Android soon.

The earphones are joined together by a cable and weighs only 18g in total. Each of the earbuds come with a 6.44mm electro-dynamic driver and has a 20-20,000 Hz range. It can connect to your smartphone or music source through a Bluetooth 4.2 connection. You will be able to use it for your rides or workouts or anywhere practically, as it is splash and dust resistant. It uses textured rubber and polymer and the cord is covered in braided textile, so it should be safe from your sweat or even the rain.

Each bud has magnets so that if you’re not using it and it’s just hanging around your neck, it won’t slip off (hopefully). And when they do click together, it will turn the headset off. The battery when fully charged should last you five hours of music playback. It is rechargeable via USB and should take 2 hours to juice up. You’ll get 3 sizes of its Comply Sport tips plus four silicone tips of various sizes so you can choose which one is most comfortable for you.

It has a companion app that lets the user customize the various sound options, but for now, it’s only available for iOS devices. Hopefully it will have an Android version soon. You can now buy the Beoplay H5 earphones from the B&O store for $249. You can choose between the colors black or dusty rose.

  1. I just received mine from Amazon today. I did not see anywhere that they do not work on Android until I found this article. They will not even connect to my phone’s Bluetooth. When I try to connect via my phone’s Bluetooth I am prompted with a message saying “Pairing is rejected by Lance’s Beoplay H5”. I cannot seem to get them to connect through the Beoplay app either. I currently have the Droid Turbo and I’m getting the Moto Z soon so I need bluetooth earphones. Should I return them or wait for the app to work on Android??
