Just yesterday, Twitter explained account security and gave tips on how to avoid password breaches. The micro blogging site has been receiving numerous updates lately because of some threats to security. It’s not a direct compromise but it’s a problem that needs to be addressed. It’s just one issue the social media network is facing as it’s being criticized lately for allowing abusive users to continue. As a solution, Twitter has introduced a more streamlined process to block a potentially abusive Twitter account user.

The blocking process is faster now as you can see the ‘block’ option where you can also find the ‘mute’ option. It’s like “muting” those accounts in your timeline. You know how it can be annoying in Twitter but good thing blocking people is now easier. When you see a tweet of the user, select a message, and then click the small tri-dot menu.

For extreme abuses in Twitter freedom, you can always report the accounts to the Twitter team. On the same menu where you can find the block and mute buttons, you will see a report tool there. Twitter has promised to do an investigation as necessary and decide if the user is really abusive or not.

Decide if you really want to block a user because doing so will ban him or her from replying to your account and viewing your messages. Once blocked, you also won’t be able to see any messages from the person. If you don’t want to totally block a person, just simply select ‘mute’. You will still see their messages if you want to and they will sill be able to see your tweets.
