The Elder Scrolls is one of Bethesda’s most popular franchises, and the outfit is up for a new epic RPG this year with Elder Scrolls: Legends. The game was announced at the E3 2016 tradeshow in Los Angeles this year, and Bethesda almost quietly announced that the game will also be available for Android and other mobile devices “so you can bring it with you wherever you go.”
Here’s an early caveat, we don’t actually know if that means the whole game will be ported to Android – which is a very difficult undertaking indeed – or if Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Global VP of Marketing and PR, just ended with this as an aside to mean like a companion app or something like that. But first, see the awesome video for Elder Scrolls: Legends below.
Truth be told, Bethesda has hit it out of the park with Fallout Shelter, Fallout 4’s companion app, so we’re not that worried. Bringing a full epic RPG to Android seems far off, and if you know the scale of how Bethesda does its Elder Scrolls RPGs, you would wonder the same.
But whatever the incarnation of Elder Scrolls: Legends will come to Android, Bethesda is the outfit most primed to do a great companion app. Fallout Shelter has been an unprecedented success for them, getting 50 million people to play the game on mobile already.
