As long as Twitter sticks to their current user interface, there will still be a proliferation of these Twitter-based apps that can offer a better user experience than the actual, official app. One of the new ones in the market now is called Flamingo for Twitter and it it was created by the same developer that made Weather Timeline which received pretty good reviews. Flamingo is still in beta mode but you can already download it to your smartphone and see the difference.
Flamingo uses the tabbed list interface that a lot of 3rd party apps are already using. You just need to swipe left to move from your main feed to your mentions and direct messages. To view your profile and your lists, you just need to tap on the slide out menu to access them. It also supports multiple Twitter accounts, since there is a certain segment of the market that has more than just one account. There is also a pretty good search function, if you need to look for users, hashtags, etc.
Sounds pretty straightforward and like a lot of other 3rd party apps right? The selling point of this app though is the wide array of choices for customization. It has 10 different themes which you can further personalize by choosing colors, fonts, and custom text size options, so you can really call this Twitter your own. And of course the app also uses the Material Design visual guidelines, which we are used to seeing n
However, since the app is still in beta version, it’s not yet as steady as the regular apps out there. So you might want to wait for it to mature first. But if you’re already interested in it, you can download Flamingo for Twitter in beta from the Google Play Store for just $0.99.
