Amazon’s Fire HD 10 is a pretty decent tablet in itself, although not a lot of people are too crazy about its plastic shell. But now the online retail giant has granted the wishes of its customers as they have introduced a metal version of the tablet and the best news is that it’s the same price as its plastic counterpart. But if you add a little more cash, you can actually get the new 64GB version, which is also now available on Amazon.
But aside from the metal build, this is still basically the same Fire HD 10 that we got a few months back. It has a 10.1-inch HD display with a 1280 x 800 resolution with a 149 ppi. It is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor but the 1GB RAM isn’t really something to sing about (of course you get what you pay for). There is a 16GB and a 32GB variant and now, you can also choose to get the 64GB tablet instead. You can still expand the storage to 128GB through a microSD card.
You still have 5MP cameras both for the main and the front-facing ones, but you probably will only use it for video chats anyway and not to take really great pictures or videos. You will supposedly get 8 hours of “mixed use” battery life so it should probably be enough for at least a day of use (unless you use it constantly). Amazon also claims that their tablet has been proven to be twice as durable as the iPad Air 2.
The metal 16GB Fire HD 10 has an SRP of $230 with special offers and $244.99 without special offers, same as the previous plastic version. The new 64GB version will set you back $290 with offers and #304.99 without. It’s available in black, silver aluminum, and white. You can order them now from the Amazon site.
