Believe it or not, there are hundreds of OEMs in China we do not know. We’re only familiar with a few and get to know others when an interesting product or model is released. Take for example this Meegopad A02 PC stick. We have no idea about Meegopad and it’s as if the device is just another personal computer stick. Well, it caught our attention because it runs Remix OS–that special mobile OS that allows Android apps to run on desktop.

The platform released by Jide, another Chinese company, is making waves today because it brings most apps from the Google Play Store to a PC. There may be limits on the apps that can run but at least it’s possible. Meegopad decided to use Remix OS on the A02 PC stick aside from Windows 10.

The actual product isn’t ready yet but the company has turned to crowdfunding at JD.com. Pricing starts at 199 yuan which is about $30 for the 1GB RAM/16GB model. The 2GB RAM/32GB storage variant is 299 yuan($46).

You can pre-order for the Remix OS-powered MeegoPad A02 at the website. It’s a basic PC in a small form factor that comes equipped with an Allwinner A83t ARM Cortex-A7 octa-core chipset, 2GB RAM, and max of 32GB onboard storage. Not much details on the specs but it’s powerful enough for some basic computing. The fact that it runs Remix OS is already enough to tell us that it can offer more because there are millions of apps to enjoys.

Other specs include a microSD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB port, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, two USB 2.0 ports, and an HDMI connector. When you connect the PC stick, you will see first a start menu-style app launcher, desktop, and a taskbar.
