If you feel like you cannot function without your Amazon Echo and you’d like to take it everywhere you go, battery life would be your only problem (well, Internet connection too of course). There have been some rumors that Amazon is actually working on a portable version of the device. But until then, you might want to just stick to getting a Battery Base from Mission Power, as it will power your Echo so you can take it with you anywhere you want.
You won’t have to worry that your Echo will detach from the base as it uses a silicone inner material that will supposedly securely grip the base and put them together. The base itself has a low batt indicator light, a battery charge status indicator light, and of course and on/off switch. It should last you around 6 hours when fully charged and you can recharge the battery using the power adapter of your Echo.
The battery management system of the Battery Base is actually from Texas Instruments, just in case you were worried about the quality. It is made from China (it’s up to you what you make of that) and it measures 3 x 2.5 x 3-inches. It is not as heavy as you might expect, but it is also not that lightweight. If you like to stream music through your Echo, or if you like to make queries to Alexa or if you like giving voice commands altogether, then you would want a portable version of the Echo (sort of).
The Battery Base from Mission Power is available for $49.99 and is available through Amazon. But let’s wait if that portable version will still materialize soon enough.
