Aside from the Nubia Z11 and Nubia Z11 Max, ZTE is also set to reveal the new Axon flagship phone. Instead of Axon 2 as spotted on TENAA and reported here last month, the new phone will be known as Axon 7. We’re really curious if this will have the 2K hi-res display manufactured by Sharp and all the other specs we learned a few weeks ago.
Why Axon 7 and not Axon 2? We’re not sure yet but that’s what was written on the invitation for the press launch which is happening in China this coming May 26. ZTE could be introducing a new series and that there might still be an Axon 2. That or Axon could be using the ‘7’ to refer to the screen size. The possibilities are endless but we’re leaning towards the idea that Axon wants to join Apple and Samsung who are launching or have launched the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 series.
The name Axon 2 sounds far behind so perhaps the ‘7’ may at least say that Axon is updated. So far, we know that the smartphone will have the following: Hi-Fi audio support, front facing speakers, 5.5-inch 2K display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB built-in storage, microSD card slot, 20MP rear camera, and an 8MP selfie camera. As for the Android version, we heard it will already run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
We have no details on how much the ZTE Axon 7 will be and when it will roll out but we can confirm that a gold version will be available at launch.
