When you see the specs (albeit, not final) of an upcoming smartphone (even though it has yet to be officially announced by its OEM) on various benchmarking sites, then it probably means that an official release will be upon us sooner rather than later. As of today, we’ve seen the 2016 version of the Samsung Galaxy J2 on Geekbench, GFXBench, and Antutu. And the fact that their seems to be some discrepancy between their specs may also indicate that details aren’t as yet finalized.
The rumored 5” device will have a 720 x 1280 display and will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. However, there were some differences in terms of the other specs. For one thing, the Antutu sheet shows a 2GB RAM while the GFXBench one shows just 1.5GB RAM. The latter also showed a Spreadtrum’s SC9830 with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU, and can already bring 4G support. The Antutu one however showed a Spreadtrum SC8830 which can only support 3G connection and the processor is a bit slower at 1.2GHz.
So does this mean that one site is true and the other false? Not necessarily. It may mean that Samsung is still testing the various configurations for the smartphone before they settle on the final hardware details of the new budget device. But since there are more and more leaks about this smartphone, then that means it will only be a few weeks before it is released in the market.
Other specs that are being bandied about include a 16GB internal storage which can be expanded through a microSD card. It will also have a 5MP main camera with autofocus, face detection, the works. Let’s wait and see what are the final specs that they will decide on.
