It’s only the fourth month of the year and yet Noodlecake Studios is already proving to be a prolific game studio as it releases its fifth title of the year, the dungeon crawling, turn-based game called Tiny Rogue. It is actually a port of game created with Ravenous Games, and if you like pixel-based games that are fun to play and at the same time will challenge you, then this is something you might want to try out, if you’re willing to spend a little in purchasing it.

There seems to be no back story this game, except that you have to go into randomized dungeons, collect treasures, use potions and spells, and then hit enemies over the head and kill them. The more adventures you go to, the more you improve and level up your tiny hero of course. You need to gain a lot of various experiences as you descend into those dungeons if you want to place yourself on the leaderboard.

It’s pretty easy to learn to play the game. You swipe in the direction you want to move to and if suddenly you have an enemy to face there, you swipe again to attack. If you need to use one of the power-ups you’ve collected, just tap it to use against your enemy. If you die, all the spells and potions and power ups that you’ve collected will be gone and you’ll go back to a random map. So the challenge really is to go as far as you can without dying.

You can download the premium game Tiny Rogue from the Google Play Store for $2.99. But that’s all-in already and no need for in-app purchases.

  1. Another Rogue adventure game. So many of these, but usually Noodlecake does fun throw-back games. Might have to check this out.

I remember playing Rogue on our VAX VMS machines in my college days. ASCII text generated dungeons was considered awesome back then! 🙂

Also, it was hidden and you had to know the right people to find it and run it.
