Amazon is still very much in the tablet business although the company recently recalled the Fire and Kids Edition chargers in the UK. The top e-commerce website is still selling a lot of tablets especially since the $50 Amazon Fire was launched last year. That move actually did boost sales although we’re not informed (yet again) of the numbers.
Amazon just sent out a statement that said the Amazon Fire is its “fastest-selling tablet ever. We just don’t know how many units were pre-ordered, shipped, and sold because no numbers were given. It’s always like this with Amazon, it will make a claim without numbers or data to back up the statement.
Oh wait, Fire Tablets’s General Manager Kevin Keith further said “with millions sold since its launch”. Interesting that he said “millions”. We still don’t know how many exactly. Anyway, this fastest-selling tablet first came in black but more color options will be available soon.
Amazon Fire will also be ready in blue, tangerine, and magenta. The $50 tablet will still be equipped with 8GB of storage while the 16GB version is priced at $70. Meanwhile, the Fire Kids Edition gets a slight update. It will now come with a green kid-proof case instead of just blue or pink. Pricing will remain at $100 and $120 for the 8GB and 16GB edition, respectively.
So “millions of customers are already enjoying Fire” according to a press release. To review, the Amazon Fire comes equipped with a 7-inch IPS display, quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, rear- and front- cameras, microSD card slot, and a 7-hour battery life. This tablet also includes the new Blue Shade feature that comes with the latest Fire OS version.
