More and more tech companies are now working to introduce new mid-range smartphones in the mobile market. Perhaps to finally beat the Chinese OEMs gaining popularity in this category, Samsung is launching the C series. The new mid-range phone lineup will be clad in metal and one of the first phones that will prove that Samsung can infiltrate the market is the Galaxy C7.

No official announcement from Samsung yet but a device bearing the ‘Galaxy C7 SM-C7000’ model name was sighted on AnTuTu recently. The benchmark site tells us this smartphone is powered by a 2 GHz eight-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, 1080p resolution, 16MP main camera, and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

We have no doubt this Samsung Galaxy C7 is a mid-range offering but the 4GB RAM reference is impressive. Because of this, we’re guessing that next year’s flagship phones will have an even bigger 6GB RAM as the standard. Mid-range phones today usually have 2GB or 3GB RAM. Lighter versions of most flagship phones are downgraded to 3GB RAM. This Galaxy C7 having 4GB RAM might make it better than the Galaxy J series.

We have no idea if the Galaxy C line will be available in other key markets but we know it will be out in China. So does the Galaxy C actually mean Galaxy China? Naaaah…
