One of the great things about Samsung’s new flagship devices, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, is that they have been pushing out little improvements to the device, like security patches and other minor things. They don’t wait for a major update anymore but instead just pushes those updates to the devices. The latest thing that they have added is something that started out as a third-party hack but is now official for the smartphones: display scaling.

The feature was originally seen by a user who enabled it through a third-party launcher shortcut. But now Samsung has made it official and you can enable this feature when you go to the display settings. Basically, what it does is to let you have greater control over the size of the icons and other information on your display screen. You can choose between standard and condensed. The latter makes the icons and text smaller so that more information can fit on the screen.

The update has also brought several improvements to the touch screen recognition of both devices. It also brings the latest security patches from Android, which has only been released to Google’s own Nexus phones last week. This is good news for Samsung owners, that the OEM has been issuing prompt updates, especially when it comes to the security patches.

If you don’t have a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, you can still have display scaling through the Nova Launcher app. But it may eventually arrive to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 eventually, so if you own either of those, you just have to wait for the new update.
