Of course we knew it was only a matter of time before Facebook started monetizing on the free social media app through e-commerce ventures. The past few months we’ve seen them bring in different businesses into the social network whether through the main app or through messenger. Now, TicketMaster and Eventbrite will be allowing users to buy their event tickets through Facebook, all without having to leave the app.

Okay, technically, that’s not true since in TicketMaster’s case you’d have to claim your ticket on their website. But still, the idea of being able to buy your tickets though the Facebook app itself is pretty awesome, especially if you’re too intent on doing all your stuff on your favorite social network. TicketMaster says they’re looking at a “more seamless purchase experience” while Eventbrite (who also used the same phrase by the way) is committed to “innovation that helps event organizers sell more tickets”.

Statistics have been showing that people go to websites less and less and are more prone to stay on apps. With Facebook being the top app that mobile users spend (waste) their time on, it’s but natural that businesses are looking at how to get on there in order not to lose eyeballs and purchases. Online shops are now being added to Pages, Uber and Lyft are connected to Messenger, and soon, probably more services will be added to Facebook itself and its connected apps.

For TicketMaster, the purchases will happen on Facebook but claiming of the ticket will be done on their own app or on the website. No details yet on how it will be on Eventbrite, but it will probably be the same, more or less.
