If you subscribed to T-Mobile’s Binge On and Music Freedom services, then you probably have been streaming videos and music respectively to your heart’s content, without worrying about it eating up all of your data. And true to the un-carrier’s promise to expand the services, they have announced even more brands that have joined their streaming initiatives, bringing a total of more than 100 music and video services under both programs.
The new additions to the Music Freedom streaming party are Amazon Music, ESPN Radio, Chilltrax, Ohio.FM, PreDanz, and Uforia. They now join other notable services like Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Pandora, and SoundCloud to bring you non-stop music and radio programs from among their extensive libraries and database. For the Binge On video streaming fun, some of the new additions are DailyMotion, Nickelodeon, Spike, TV Land, 120 Sports and a few more smaller but still significant services. Previous services included are Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBO Now, Watch ESPN, and others.
Of course T-Mobile head honcho John Legere will not waste any opportunity to boast of these additions to their un-carrier moves. Through the two programs, he says that you are virtually saving up your Un-carrier data for later use, even though you’re streaming all these music and video as much as you can. He then says that it’s “ridiculous” how other carriers would bring penalties and eventually “repossession” for users who would be charged overage just for wanting to stream their favorite shows and music.
He also gave some stats on how many T-Mobile users are using Binge On and Music Freedom. Since it launched, customers have been streaming 90 billion songs for free (well, except for the respective subscription fees of course) through Music Freedom. Their customers have also been streaming over 190 million hours of video for free through Binge On. All in all, Legere said their subscribers have saved over 350 petabytes of high-speed data.
