If you can’t be at the actual site of breaking news (and probably few of us would actually want to be there), the next best thing would be to view it with a 360 video playback. In the latest update of the CNN Breaking US & World News app, you will now be able to see these virtual reality videos in all their 360 degree glory, and you don’t even have to use a VR headset to be able to do so.
Even with just your naked eye, you can now view all the 360 degree videos that are available in the app. All you need to do is tap on the video article and then rotate your smartphone into the direction that you want to see. You will be able to see all the things that happened around the area, as long as their camera was able to capture it at that moment. This is part of CNN’s commitment to bring “virtual reality across CNN Digital platforms”.
Another thing you can enjoy with this latest update is the ability to cast news clips from the app to a bigger screen because it now has Chromecast support. Whether you’re using the 1st or 2nd generation device, you will be able to stream it to your HDMI compatible screen. Soon, the app will also be able to bring you Live TV and full Android TV support.
If you have already have the CNN Breaking US & World News app, just update it to the latest version to enjoy the 360 videos and Chromecast support. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
