Avid users of the Opera mobile browser can now download the latest version of the app from the Google Play Store. Opera 36 for Android brings a new tab switcher and web app discovery experience. It’s also made faster and more secure than ever so you don’t have to worry about wasting your time or your data leaking to strangers.
Opera 36 features a new tab switcher that is easier to use. App is also lighter so memory usage is reduced. You can open as many tabs you want but overviews are only for two tabs. To delete a tab, simply flick it up. If you want to enjoy private browsing, swipe away from your current screen to open a private tab. You will know it’s already secure once a little ghost appears.
Websites nowadays must be updated to be mobile search friendly for Google to rank them accordingly. The developers have added a new progressive web app discovery mechanism so you’ll know which websites can run like a native app. Opera will show a dialog to make a suggestion to add to the home screen. You can add the site for quicker access in the future. There’s a call to use progressive web app technologies and Opera said it will start to give priorities to such websites that are easy to navigate on mobile.
A Web Bluetooth feature has been added as well. Enable the experimental option so you can start creating your own control interface that you can use and connect with Bluetooth LE devices or items connected to the Internet of Things.
