There has been no official word yet, but of course owners of the Blackberry Priv, the first Android smartphone from the OEM, are hoping that their devices will eventually be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest major update from Google. But it looks like their wish will be granted, as a video has emerged showing the high-end smartphone sporting the updated version of the Android OS, although there seems to be no major change seen on the video, at least in terms of appearance.
Several devices from various brands like Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei, etc, are still now awaiting their OS updates because, unsurprisingly, the Marshmallow is taking its sweet time to reach all the devices that will be updated. So now we can add Blackberry Priv owners to those who will be waiting, although there is no official word from Blackberry as to how long this will happen. Although we’re hoping that it’s before Android N will be officially unveiled to the public.
And even though the video itself didn’t show off the features of the Marshmallow update, we know that it boasts of several new things, like Doze, which automatically puts your phone to sleep when it detects there hasn’t been any movement, therefore saving battery; App Standby which also saves your battery life by letting some of the apps just be on standby rather than updating in the background; and improved app permissions so you can easily turn on and off permissions only when we need it.
But for now, if you have a Blackberry Priv, don’t hold your breath waiting for that update. Hopefully, it will be soon as the Marshmallow continues to finally arrive for various newer Android devices.
