South Korea already has the enviable reputation of having the fastest internet in the world. And if you’re thinking of getting the new Samsung flagship devices and you live in that country, then you’ll have even faster download and upload speeds on your smartphone. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be the first devices to use the next-generation long term evolution (LTE) and so become the fastest smartphones in the world, connectivity speaking.

Samsung has confirmed that they will be implementing Category 11 LTE on the Galaxy S7 and Category 12 LTE on the Galaxy S7 edge together with South Korea’s three major mobile operators. The speed of both devices will increase by 33% compared to the previous flagship, the Galaxy S6. Upload speed for the Galaxy S7 edge will increase by 200% while for the Galaxy S7, it will increase by 50% only, but still that is 50% faster.

The devices will be optimized for sharing on SNS or social network services. Having a faster upload speed will make it easier to share videos and even virtual reality images onto your favorite social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc. If you’re using the next gen LTE, it will only take you 15 seconds to download a 1GB movie. Currently, it takes 20 seconds for fast smartphones to do that, if they’re connected to a fast Internet service or carrier.

Now of course the upload and download speed of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will still depend on the carrier or Internet service you’re subscribed to. So even if the new flagship devices have that capability in the US and especially in developing countries, it still wouldn’t make much difference because of the slow Internet speed.
