This is our “Games of the Week” feature, where we give you the lowdown on the top games to check out if you’re ever feeling lonely and you need some gaming time on your smartphone. Seen any interesting games lately? We’ll try to help you out in that area by giving you five great reasons to visit the Google Play Store later – here are some great games to check out. Here we go!
City Run London

This game makes it to the top of our list by virtue of its uniqueness – if you want to do a stealth-based game like “Assassin’s Creed” on your mobile, this one is it. City Run London might sound like a racing game, but it’s a period thriller of a game, complete with stealth objectives. The time and place is London of the early 1500s, and players will play a character called “The Moth”. The objective is to save a monk from being executed, and it is up to you to navigate the levels and locations so she can stop the execution. The game is available via the Play Store for USD$0.99, a small price to pay, we feel, for such an intriguing game.

Winterstate

This game is the second game out of Playraven Studios, and it’s a beauty. This is a real-time strategy game, with a lot of action elements. The game takes you to a time where climate change has destroyed society – everything is frozen and under snow. Ragged bands of survivors roam the frozen landscape in all kinds of makeshift attack vehicles – you being one of those. As a player, you get to fight back against the bandits, trade precious goods, and collect armed vehicles to use in keeping these bandits and raiders at bay. The graphics are gorgeous and if RTS games are your thing, check out this free-to-download title.

Machines at War 3

Still very much in the RTS strategy game mold, we bring you another premium title in “Machines at War 3”. The game mixes up the RTS genre with some mystery and action elements, so it will be a breath of fresh air for the Clash of Clans-saturated genre. The storyline is intriguing – all scientists in the Omicron Initiative have disappeared and secret military lab ransacked. It’s up to you to find the scientists, discover who has the tech they’ve developed, and make sure that this tech will not be used by evil elements. There are 130 different units available, 21 campaign missions that you can fulfill in the game. You can also play against your friends in online multiplayer mode. The game is beautiful and addictive, and you play a premium price of USD$6.99 to download and play it.

Miitomo

Last but definitely not the least, we have the first mobile game out of Nintendo. Miitomo is a big deal, because this launches Nintendo into the mobile gaming sphere – a market that it didn’t want to touch and be part of before last year. We’ve talked about Miitomo in a couple of different write-ups, but the good news is, it launched already. It’s a social game, and very intriguing to check out. If it’s available in your territory, you might want to see what all the hype is about.
