Virtual reality enters our households as video content providers like Netflix and Hulu have gotten each of their own VR apps for the Samsung Gear VR. We know more will be joining the virtual realm but pace may be a bit slow because this kind of technology needs some getting used to like 3D. Aside from the Netflix VR app, there’s also the Hulu VR that offers 360-degree content for a different kind of watching experience.
We mentioned that Hulu would be releasing the VR app for an exciting virtual reality watching and finally, the VR app is now available. With your Samsung Gear VR, you can watch 360-degree videos anytime you want aside from all the titles in the Hulu library. Those 2D movies and TV shows won’t be converted to 3D but you can watch them in 360-degree environments. With the Hulu VR app, you don’t have to stay inside your living room. You can be “out there” or in “another place”.
But to make the most of the Gear VR, take advantage of the 360-degree videos and experience being in the virtual realm. Be transported into a different world and be there in the middle of the action with the characters you’re watching. It could be better than IMAX, 3D, 4D, or 5D as you can enjoy an almost complete visual and auditory watching experience.
Hulu released over 25 videos from various content providers. You’ll find curated videos from the following: The National Geographic Channel, Las Vegas, Discovery Communications, Baobab Studios, Showtime Networks, Viacom, The Uprising Creative, Studio Transcendent, SilVR Thread, and Spoke. Hulu promised to add more VR films to the current lineup.
Before checking out those VR films in the library, watch the original short film entitled “The Big One” first. It’s an original by Hulu in partnership with Lionsgate. Witness an amazing meteor shower by filmmaker Freddie Wong and the RocketJump team.
Hulu VR app is supported on the Samsung Gear VR. The virtual reality headset works with the latest premium flagship phones from the South Korean giant like the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+. The app isn’t Samsung exclusive so expect it to be ready for other platforms and other VR headsets as well in the near future.
