We all know that when you’re driving on the road, whether it’s with a car, a motorcycle, or a bicycle, all your attention must be focused on where you’re going. But we also know that most drivers can’t help but look at their devices whenever there’s a chance. Samsung is focusing on those driving motorbikes by making it “safer” for the drivers to still be updated and look at crucial information through something called Smart Windshield.

For now, it’s still a video concept that the OEM worked on with advertising agency Leo Burnett. The idea is to put information that they absolutely need to see at that moment on to the driver’s line of sight or his motorbike’s windshield using a projection technique. Of course the information will be coming from the connected smartphone device and includes navigation details, who’s calling you when your phone rings, text messages, etc.

Of course there is still always the danger of being distracted, particularly with text messages. That is why as much as possible, you shouldn’t really look, unless you’re temporarily stopped or stuck in traffic. But seeing who’s calling can actually give you the option to pull over and take the call or send an automated message that you’re driving and would have to call them back. Plus, navigation is important especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area.

A lot of similar technology is being brought to cars, like Android Auto. But this may be the first time that an OEM will eventually create the tech for motorbike drivers. Let’s wait and see if this will go somewhere.
