We told you that ‘Punch Club’ would teach you to fight as therapy and true enough, millions of people enjoyed the game. We’re not really sure if they’re learning how to punch and fight but the game developed by Tiny Build and Lazy Bear games attracted a lot of people. According to Tiny Build, they sold about 300,000 copies of the game but it was pirated over 1 million times on PC. On mobile devices, Punch Club was copied 500k times. The actual copies sold is already good news for the devs and they’re considering it a big milestone.
We’re not shunning the pirates out there but Tiny Build has released some interesting statistics and figures. Analytics were included in all versions of Punch Club so the developers were able to identify where the gamers were from and on what devices they were playing.
Tiny Build said the PC version were all played using Steam keys on Windows, Linux, or Mac. The number also includes the DRM-free legit copies and those sold by the resellers.
Looking at the pirated versions, the number of activations were subtracted from legit sales per platform minus 10%. They tracked the activations via fingerprinting using special analytics tools.

• 1,137,000 times on PC, Mac, or Linux
• 514,000 times on mobile
• 90% of mobile piracy came from Android
• China doesn’t care about localization as they pirated the game even if there’s no Chinese version
• Portuguese version of the game was quickly pirated in Brazil soon after launch
• Game didn’t sell much in Brazil but were pirated more
• For every iOS sale there are two pirates, in Android sale there are 12 pirates, and on PC there are four pirates.
