If you’re kinda tired of looking at hogriders on your screen – which is to say, the kind of real-time strategy (RTS) game being sold to you by Supercell – you might be on the hunt for a new strategy game experience. SEGA just happens to have has a whole bundle of strategy games under the “Total War” franchise, and one of those is being let loose on a Clash of Clans-saturated landscape – this new game is called Total War Battles: KINGDOM.
Total War Battles: KINGDOM will take players to a medieval time period, although the game will not be anything similar to the older Medieval: Total War games that launched for the PC platform. The game will first teach you resource and army building – creating your kingdom filled with towns, people, farms and the like. The gameplay will kick in and teach you about battles and war, and there will be plenty of that.
You then have the choice to face off against other players online, but really not before building yourself a considerable army. The battles occur real-time, so you’ll have to make sure that you’re on your toes if you expect to win. Best of all, the game can be played cross-platform – you can play on a smartphone one day and on a PC the next, if you own both copies.
Total War Battles: KINGDOM is a free download from the Play Store, so pick it up at the link below. Expect in-app purchases, although they look like they won’t be too obtrusive. The game also requires internet connection to play, and the developers recommend at least 2GB of RAM on whatever Android device you’re playing on.
