The Huawei media launch that will be happening a few weeks from now may give us answers as to whether or not the new smartphone they’ll be launching will indeed have two cameras at the back. But if recent photos of Huawei President Ren Zhengfei are anything to go by, then yes, the upcoming P9 devices will indeed sport a dual camera system, unless there’s another new phone on the horizon. But with the invite for the event containing the hashtag #oo, it’s probably a safe bet that all the leaks were right.
The Huawei president was recently photographed using a smartphone with two camera lenses at the back. When you’re the president of a tech company, probably one of the perks is to use new products before it comes out of the market. Just make sure you don’t get photographed using it or the speculation will reach fever pitch (unless that’s actually a publicity stunt yes?). The teasers leading up to the event on April 6 are pointing to dual cameras as well, so we might as well call it this early: the Huawei P9 smartphones will have two cameras.
Yes, smartphones is not a typo. There are four expected variants of the P9, according to past reports and leaks. The original Huawei P9 will have a 5.2-inch display, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and run by Kirin 950 Soc. Meanwhile the P9 Lite variant is smaller, with a 5-inch screen, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and powered by Snapdragon 650. The P9 Special Enhanced edition will be bigger with a 5.8-inch display, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and with the Kirin 655 chipset. The biggest of them all, the P9 Max will have a 6.8-inch screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB ROM and still powered by a Kirin 655 chipset.
Now of course all the specs or even the existence of those four devices haven’t been confirmed. We’ll find out by April 6.
