What we usually want for a power strip is simple: we just need it to charge our devices. nothing more, nothing less. But a startup called Good Gadgets thinks it can do more than just that, and that is why they have launched a Kickstarter campaign to be able to bring to the world the Youmo power strip, a modular creation where you can do other things like wirelessly charge, play music, extend your Internet, wirelessly control the attached devices, etc.
Depending on what you need or even what you want, there are various modules available in order to turn the Youmo power strip into a multi-functional device for different gadgets and accessories that you need to function. Some modules available include a night light, a wireless speaker, a wireless charging pad, a multi-USB port, and even a sensor for security and a smart module to control the devices that are currently charging in your Youmo power strip.
Building your power strip is pretty easy. You get to choose which base cord color you want to use (there are 7 options) and 3 different lengths as well. Then add the Solo, Triple or Fiver plug module for your basic electrical needs. Then just keep on adding more modules as you go along, including US and EU modules for your travel needs to areas that have different kinds of wall sockets.
The campaign has actually already reached its €50,000 goal, with still 20 days to go. You can page as low as €39 to get 1 Base Cord, and any 2 modules from the Kickstarter collection. Delivery is expected by February 2017.
