After Samsung’s unveiling of its two new flagship smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a few weeks back, today marks the full and official commercial release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. This means that the flagships will now be available in most markets like the US, Europe, Singapore, Australia, and the company’s home market in Korea.
There are a couple of things to consider when looking to upgrade to these new phones. First up is the hardware. Both phones are quite handy by design, the Galaxy S7 at 5.1 inches and the Galaxy S7 edge at 5.3 inches. Both feature fantastic leading edge chipsets in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or the Exynos 8890 (this is an “either-or” proposition, depending on which market you are in).

And from all evidences, the phones have great cameras, featuring Samsung’s “dual pixel” technology which has superfast autofocus and amazing low-light capabilities. The main camera may just be 12MP on paper, but you will have to try it to see how the dual pixel technology just makes your images better.
Lastly, all these little add-ons, like new gaming features, Samsung Pay, and the return of the microSD expansion slot. The latter is something you will need because from what we hear, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will take up almost 8GB of your internal storage. For a vanilla model with 32GB, that means only 24GB for your apps and data, so you will surely need a microSD expansion card.
