Samsung can never be accused of sitting on its laurels, whether it’s for smartphones, wearables, and yes, even tablets. A rumored new 10-inch tablet is rumored to soon be released and someone who has a prototype of the alleged device has benchmarked it on the GFXBench site. The Samsung Galaxy Tab SM-T585 can either be part of the Galaxy Tab E series or the Galaxy Tab 5 or a bigger version of the Galaxy Tab A, but either way, it’s going to be another 10-inch tablet.
The tablet also supposedly comes with a 1920 x 1200 touchscreen and is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset with a 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T830 GPU. It will have 2GB RAM (which might be pretty slow compared to newer tablets) and 16GB of built-in storage (probably expandable). Main camera is at 8MP while selfie cam is at 2MP, but that’s probably okay since you won’t use a 10-inch tablet to take much pictures or video. All connectivity options except for NFC are available.
The SM-T585 is probably the LTE version of a WiFi only device, the SM-T580. This is based on the past naming conventions of Samsung devices. Having the Exynos 7870 will also mean that it’s only the 2nd device that uses this recently announced chipset. And of course it should have Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
There is no word yet on when we should expect this new tablet to hit the market. So until then, we wait for the next round of rumors or leaks about this mystery new tablet from Samsung.
