Sorry to those who have been waiting to “catch ’em all” at the Game Developer’s Conference but the Pokemon GO AR game is a no-go, at least, not yet. The augmented reality game announced last September won’t be showcased at the upcoming GDC event in San Francisco for the simple reason that Niantic and Nintendo are not ready yet.

This news is very much disappointing to a lot of Pokemon fans, geeks, and gamers who got excited over the Pokemon GO augmented reality game. Well, we think that’s better instead of being disappointed about a half-baked, not fully ready game. In six months, the developers haven’t managed to produce a market-ready game. We don’t know the status or development phase but project is still underway.

Neither of the two companies posted an official announcement but an event schedule showed the supposed presentation is cancelled. John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, humbly said in a statement:

“We have decided to forego our GDC talk on Pokémon GO in order to focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch. As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be.”

Beta launch is still a “go” but we don’t know when the mobile game will be available. As of late, gameplay isn’t ready for primetime release yet so let’s just wait and see.
