If you’re a Verizon subscriber (or planning to become one), a device you might consider getting is the Blackberry Priv. Okay, having a Blackberry attached to a product may have been anathema a few months ago, but their comeback into the smartphone business has been met with rather good reviews. And now, the high-end smartphone is available from Verizon at a pretty reasonable deal of just $30 a month for the next 24 months.
The Blackberry Priv is actually the OEM’s first venture into Android territory, and if it becomes a financial success, it may also be their first step back into the good graces of the smartphone world. It has a 5.4” 1440 x 2560 pixel display and is powered by a Snapdragon 808 hexacore processor. It has 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 200GB through a microSD card with a dedicated slot.
Camera-wise, it has a pretty decent 18MP primary camera with a pretty poor 2MP secondary one. But what sets it apart from other smartphones is that it has a physical QWERTY keyboard, which was one of the selling points of Blackberry devices in its heyday. Security is also a major thrust of this device, with the highest level of data encryption and layered defense and other technical security terms that only Blackberry can bring.
You can get the Blackberry Priv from Verizon for its retail price of $720. Or you can also get it at $30 a month for the next 24 months if you’re a qualified customer of the carrier.
