You thought it neat when your smartphone controlled your vacuum robot and helped you clean around the house. But now, it’s even cooler because your Android Wear smartwatch can be your remote control as your Neato Botvac Connected does its business around your room and your house. The latest update to the app is that it will be able to respond to your commands like stop and start and get notifications as well, all from your wrist.
Before, you can only find cleaning robots in episodes of the Jetsons or in sci-fi movies. Slowly but surely, this “dream” has been coming true, and Neato Botvac has been one more step forward in the evolution of robot helpers. Your cleaning activities will become much easier now as your Android Wear smartwatch can be connected to the app through your smartphone and you can tell your Botvac when to start and stop. It will also notify you in case your robot got stuck in that corner again.
All you have to do is make sure that your Neato robot and your smartwatch are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that your Neato Botvac Connected app is updated. However, the commands are pretty basic for now. It can clean in the two cleaning modes available, smart laser navigation and cleaning sharp corners as well.
You can get the Neato Botvac Connected for $699, which some may find steep while some would willingly pay to have a cleaning robot at home. The app will be updated soon so you can play with it using your smartwatch.
