It took them almost three years to finally adapt what has been the streaming standard for a lot of people, but th NBC Android app now has Google Chromecast support. You will now be able to cast your favorite NBC shows from your mobile device to a bigger screen, as long as you have the dongle of course. The streaming works with all of the live and pre-recorded videos on the app, although some users have complained that it is not working properly.
If for some reason you didn’t know it yet, yes the multi-million dollar entertainment company has its own app where you can watch all the current episodes of ongoing series, a livestream of your local NBC stations, and episodes of classic shows that were broadcast on the network. While of course you will be able to find most of these shows in other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, etc, if you’re a fan of the network, then you’d rather have them all in one place.
The app also has the usual feature in video streaming services like the ability to continue where you left off, or mark your most watched shows as favorites, and even closed captioning support if the show has a CC icon. You’ll be able to access all these shows and features without any log-ins. But to access the episodes of all the series, you can enter your TV provider username and password.
Aside from the Chromecast support, the latest update to the NBC app doesn’t seem to have any significant changes. Some users have complained that the app just continually buffers and doesn’t play anything ever since they updated. Hopefully, NBC can fix this problem before more people give up on it and move to other streaming services.
