If you’ve been enjoying using the Talon app instead of the actual Twitter app, you’ll be pleased to know that the developer is finally bringing version 4.0 in the latest update. It’s not a major update, but having a better tablet landscape mode, more activity transitions, and other small but important changes are always welcome. Plus, developer Luke Klinker is also offering a Supporter 2016 option for those who’d like to financially support what this free app is doing.
For the latest update, there are some improvements for the tablet version, including the landscape mode where it displays 2 timelines instead of just 1. The layout for the tablet app has also been significantly improved. You also now have quick actions on the tweets without necessarily having to expand the tweet or even leave the timeline. The actions include retweeting and “heart-ing” said tweet. If you have more than one account, switching back and forth is now faster. The update also brings more activity transitions and style updates for the navigation drawer.
Talon is of course free, but if you want to support the developer and send some moolah his way, you can do so with the 2016 Supporter option. You can voluntarily contribute either $3, $6, or $10. But Klinker clears up that becoming a supporter doesn’t mean you get any special features or benefits. It’s just that you wanted to either thank him or encourage him to continue making the app better.
The update is rolling out already so if you have Talon already installed, check it out. If you’re still on the lookout for a Twitter client, try it out by downloading it from the Google Play Store.

On what planet is Talon free?
It’s CDN$5.60 right now… which is probably on the very high end of app prices for something that replaces a free app.
