Aside from smart home, we’re anticipating that the smartwatch industry will further expand this 2016. Last year was all about companies and OEMs jumping in to the bandwagon. Others have started to lower their prices while some ventured into the luxury smartwatch game. We’re expecting more wearable apps to fill the Google Play Store that will not only attract people because they’re fun and entertaining but also because they are quite useful.
Productivity apps for smartwatch like this Documents for Android Wear developed by Appfour will totally change the game. It’s not really ideal to view a document on such a small screen but sometimes, the watch is more convenient to just open. A few taps and clicks here and there, you can start reading that document or spreadsheet you need to review for work.
You can view Google docs, PDFs, Excel sheets saved on your phone or from Google Drive right on your watch using the Documents for Android Wear. Just open the app and sign into your Google account to access files on Google Drive. You can even open any PDF file from Wear Mail. To open a file on your smartwatch, simply choose “Share with Wear Documents” on your smartphone.
The smartwatch app is free to download but in-app purchases are offered. Functions may be limited but you can drag document, tap zoom, pinch zoom, scroll down, and go to a specific page. Loading time is fast and can be done even when offline. Other special actions include share on phone, open on phone, delete document, and document details card.
Here are just some of the smartwatches supported: ASUS ZenWatch and ZenWatch 2; LG G Watch, Watch R, Watch Urbane; Fossil Q Founder, Samsung Gear Life, TAG Heuer Connected, Motorola Moto 360, and Sony Smartwatch 3.
