This is proof again of why CyanogenMod continues to be one of, if not THE biggest aftermarket custom ROM out there, as we see the length and breadth of their support for devices. Today we are getting CM13, which is the developers’ Marshmallow flavored offering, for the Barnes & Noble Nook tablet. We’re also getting CM12 (Lollipop) for the pretty ancient Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The Nook tablet was released in November 2011, and for device standards, that’s pretty old. The hardware in it can still do the job, remember that we are getting a 7-inch (almost) HD IPS LCD screen powered by a dual-core 1Ghz processor and 1GB RAM. Certainly not new specs, but CyanogenMod thinks it will be able to run Android Marshmallow. FYI, it was only rated to run Android 2.3.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was released in October of 2011, with a 4.7-inch HD (720p) Super AMOLED screen powered by a TI OMAP dual-core 1.2Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. Although this device has a bit more powerful specs than the Nook, we’re only getting CM12 nightly builds here. The Galaxy Nexus was last updated to Android 4.3 Jellybean.
