Facebook launched a service back in 2014 that caters to celebrities who want to keep updated with what their fans are saying about them, and also to keep fans updated with what’s happening with them (well, at least the things that they would want the public to know). It took almost a couple of years, but the Facebook Mentions app has finally made its way to Android devices so that the “one percenters” or the verified Facebook users can actually use it on their smartphone or tablet.
The Facebook Mentions app is also important as this is where the users can do their live video streaming, whether they’re at the set of their latest movie or show or backstage before their concert or at the actual venue of a breaking news story. The verified users can also use the app to talk to their followers, (provided they have the desire to do so) and even if they don’t talk to the followers, at least they’re updated with the topics that their fans are talking about. It’s also easy to start conversations through the app (theoretically speaking of course) by sharing photos, updates, videos, etc.
While it is an app not meant for the rest of us mere mortals, that hasn’t stopped some people from commenting on the app page that this was a “useless” app, that it wasn’t working on their device, and that Facebook should fix its main app first before branching out into other apps. Now we don’t know if these people actually know what Facebook Mentions is for and they’re just expressing their opinions against Facebook on the app’s review section.
But if you are one of the verified accounts on the social media app and you’re using an Android device, you can download Facebook Mentions from the Google Play Store for free.
