While we’re still waiting for the official build of the Android 6 Marshmallow to reach our Android devices, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be happy to know that their OEM is rolling out an update to the beta build of the devices. Of course, you would have had to sign up first with their beta program to enjoy this preview of what to expect when the Marshmallow update will finally arrive.

The changelog for this beta update is pretty big of course since it is beta software. But you probably wouldn’t mind that too much since changes will almost always make you feel like you have a new device, sort of. Some of the changes you will experience if you are one of the beta testers is the quick toggling to Private Mode on the status bar, new emojis (always a welcome thing), and better notification panel icons. If you use your fingerprint feature to lock your device, it will only vibrate now if your smartphone doesn’t recognize your print. And if you’re annoyed that your apps suddenly update in the middle of a busy day, now you can set it up that it will only do it between 2AM-5AM so you won’t be disturbed.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge will also get a new interface for Edge screen settings. It is now easier to disable or enable Edge screen panels as well as setting their transparency and size. You can also download new tasks online and it will let you leave shortcuts within the apps, like composing a message, adding a new contact, writing a new email, etc. The update should make your Edge device really feel more like an edge device.

There is still no word as to when the actual Marshmallow update will start rolling out. So in the meantime, if you’re part of the beta program, enjoy all these new features and improvements that the beta update brings.
