Usually, when Samsung releases its updates for its newest flagship devices, they’re all at the same time for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. But somehow the three S6’s received their updates ahead of time a few days ago. But now the Galaxy Note 5 can join the “party” as the security patch for December is slowly rolling out to device owners.
While there are no significant changes that would interest regular users, having a security patch is always a good thing. This almost monthly regular update is part of the commitment of OEMs and carriers to their users ever since the Stagefright scare of 2015, when almost everyone was caught unaware that a malware could easily get into Android devices. The changelog is almost the same as the previous update, so no need to study it in detail (unless you really want to).
Aside from the security patch from Google, there will also be fixes for nine more security vulnerabilities, which is a good thing, but also a cause for concern for those who don’t have the patch yet. The changelog also mentions that the update will bring users improved voice quality, so that should also be a good thing for Galaxy Note 5 users.
The firmware version N920GDDU2AOL1, 71.15MB is already rolling out in India and should reach all regions that have the Galaxy Note 5 in the next few days. But if you don’t want to wait, you can download the firmware from the source link.
