Those who were “burned” by Blackberry’s previous devices will probably not be keen on buying a new BB device (BB8 not included) anytime soon. But the OEM, who’s trying to make a comeback in the hardware market, will also not give up in pushing their new PRIV smartphone, their first full Android device. They just released a new video which is a showcase of its “inner beauty” and not so much of the features that it has to offer to those looking for a new gadget for the new year.
The 30 seconder ad basically shows off what’s inside the PRIV, without giving too much details of course. But the quality and design is highlighted, and even the premium materials showcased as well. It is an “explode view” of the device and then it slowly (well, not so slowly after all) assembles itself until it forms into the Blackberry PRIV that we’ve seen (and some have loved). The sliding physical keyboard is one of the selling points of the device, and it’s also briefly highlighted here.
If you’re not familiar with the device we’ve been talking about, the Blackberry PRIV has a 5.4-inch dual curved screen and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, has a 3GB RAM, plus a 32GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 2TB through a micro SIM. It has an 18MP dual-flash Schneider-Kreuznach certified camera plus a bunch of other features that makes it comparable to DSLR cameras.
While Blackberry has not shied away from sharing the good things that people have been saying about this smartphone, particularly the high marks that the DxOMark mobile test has given its photography (and videography capabilities), they have been less forthcoming when it comes the numbers and how it’s faring in the market. CEO John Chen has said in the past that their hardware business hinges on how well the PRIV will do in terms of sales.
