Our home appliances are getting smarter and smarter, and so we expect every new device to be as smart as the last one that we bought. When it comes to vacuum cleaners, you wouldn’t think that you’d need so many other features other than it cleans your floors. But robotic vacuum cleaners have been a thing, and now South Korean OEM LG is joining the fray with their HOM-BOT Turbo+ which seems to be, on the surface, the smartest of them all.

The flat, automated vacuum has a rounded-corner square shape and aside from its automated features, it also has augmented reality (AR) and to top it all off, you even get a sort of home monitoring system. The Home-Joy feature is the biggest selling point of the HOM-BOT as it allows your vacuum to be connected to your smartphone through an app. If you open the camera on the app, you can take a picture of the area that you want cleaned and then tap on the spots that you want to really be cleaned. The vacuum has three camera sensors that generates the images of the room.

The other main feature of the vacuum is the “Home-View”, which allows the vacuum to become a sort of movable home security camera. The aforementioned 3 cameras also play a part here as you can view what the vacuum is cleaning even while you’re away. When it detects movement, it will take pictures and forward them to your smartphone.

There are no details yet as to the price and availability of the LG HOM-BOT Turbo+ but it will be displayed at the CES 2016 this coming January. Let’s wait until then to find out if we can afford it after all.
