Micromax’s YU Yutopia is expected to be the ‘world’s most powerful smartphone’ when it launches. It was said back in September but that may not be true now. The India-based company has just introduced the new Yutopia phone, a CyanogenOS-powered smartphone that packs hi-end specs like 4GB RAM and a Snapdragon 810 processor.
The Yu Yutopia runs CyanogenOS. It’s not just the mod version but the latest CyanogenOS. The flagship-level smartphone comes equipped with a 5.2-inch QHD screen with 2560 × 1440 pixel resolution and 565 ppi. Making the Yutopia as the “most powerful phone” are the following: 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa core CPU, Adreno 430 in the GPU department, 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB built-in storage, AND microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 128GB. The speakers can be found at the back panel, bottom part. The camera features a Saturn Ring design.
The Yutopia boasts of an all metal body but it remains to be lightweight at only 159 grams. Other specs of the CyanogenOS-powered Yutopia phone include a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery, Quick Charge 2.0, USB 2.0 port, 4K video recording capability, 21 megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor, dual LED flash, OIS and PDAF, 8MP front-facing selfie shooter, 4G/LTE connectivity, and dual SIM support. Phone already runs Cyanogen OS 12.1 but it’s expected to receive the latest Cyanogen OS 13.
YU, as a subsidiary of Micromax, is touted as the OnePlus of India but we’re not sure how this new brand is doing well in the market. It may not be on the top rankings yet but it seems there is a market for mobile devices that offer great value for your money. Most Chinese OEMs are known to offer such deals–cheap price for a handset with “okay” specs. You see, there’s no point in buying premium phones now when you can buy an alternative from other companies. After all, you will only be tempted to upgrade to the newest model after a few months.
Specs may be premium but price of the Yutopia is mid-range at only $375 (Rs. 24,999). Phone is now listed for pre-order at Amazon India but shipping will start on December 26.
