Well, this is a different type of rumor. We usually get some that confirms the existence or usage of stuff – this one seems to be a rumor that states the opposite. That is, sources coming from Korea are saying that the top two gadget manufacturers in the country – Samsung and LG – are not in a hurry to switch to 4K displays on their mobile gadgets and devices in 2016.
For those of you who were expecting 4K displays to make a splash next year, well, you might have to wait a bit more. Samsung and LG are rumored to stay with QHD (2560 x 1440) displays for the moment. Not that we’re complaining – QHD resolution is plenty fine for most users. I don’t know of anyone clamoring so much for 4K resolution on a smartphone, although that would surely be wonderful.
Samsung and LG have reportedly been having problems resolving the overheating and power efficiency issues connect with using 4K displays. Also, the two manufacturers have said that there is just not enough demand yet for 4K displays in the market as of now.
This might be a content issue as well. 4K content is still rare, but that might change when standards move to 5G data connections in 2018. That’s plenty fast for streaming 4K content, and that might be the catalyst needed to push manufacturers to make that jump to 4K displays.

“I can see the pixels!1!!!1”
No, you can’t.
The battery is the problem not the resolution!
Having 4k on a phone will drain the battery in no time, Stupid manufacturers keep pushing for thinner and thinner phones meaning we get batteries that stay the same or get smaller.
Phones are thin enough already to fit in a shirt pocket, Give us a few mm back to allow an increase in battery size and a lot of consumers will be happy.
