Have you ever wanted to see if something you posted is gathering the traction that you wanted and proof is that people are writing their comments on your post? Well, we’re not really sure if this will drastically affect how you use Facebook, but several users have suddenly seen “a friend is writing a comment” on their News Feed. This is part of an ongoing test that the social networking giant is doing on selected users, in order to create better features for showcasing real-time conversations.

As early as November, some users started saying that they could see a notification, “a friend is writing a comment” on the news feed. The messenger already has this feature in a sense that you see three moving dots when the person you’re having a conversation with is still typing something. But it looks like they’re also looking at bringing this to the main Facebook feed, as part of their goal to create real-time conversations, according to a representative from the company.

Some found this to be either creepy, useless, or adding to the drama of certain posts. Possible effects would be to hold off on commenting yourself, until you see what the person is typing and whether or not it will be relevant to what you’ll say. But the danger here is that while you’re waiting for the commenter to finish, you’ll be distracted by something else on your feed, and then that “moment” is lost.

This update hasn’t been finalized and is still in the testing phase, so you won’t be able to apply it to you. Let’s see if this will be a permanent fixture or if it will go the way of hundreds of experimental ideas that never see the light of day.
